The prestigious business magazine Forbes has published an article by Mikhail Oshchepkov, an reseaerch fellow of the ENERPO Research Center, dedicated to the current crisis in the Russian coal industry and possible ways to overcome it. The article examines the key challenges facing coal companies, as well as possible strategies for adapting to the new conditions.

Building on findings from the project ‘The Russian Coal Sector: Challenges and Transition Opportunities’ convened by Climate Strategies, we will be debating Russia’s climate policies, including the coal sector and energy transitions.

The Month of Energy: ENERPO Open Lectures Series

In March 2019, the ENERPO Research Center of the European University at St. Petersburg launches “the Month of Energy”. “The Month of Energy” is a series of open lectures on current trends and challenges of Russian energy politics. EachWednesday at 18:30 during the month of March, an interactive lecture will be given in a trendy location, touching upon themes such as energy factor in foreign policy, clean energy in Russia, decarbonization of energy sector and energy politics in the Caspian sea region.

ENERPO at the COP24 in Katowice

From the 11th to the 13th December, the European University at St.Petersburg took part in the 24th International Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Conference of the Parties or COP24). The Academic Director of the ENERPO program, Professor Nikita Lomagin, the Head of the STS center, Olga Bychkova, and the Head of the ENERPO center, Maxim Titov, spoke at several sessions of the Russian pavilion.
