Taken with the success of American Silicon Valley, a number of states strive to create their own economic ‘cluster’, i.e. geographically localized zone of innovation economy. In Russia this ambition has shaped into the Skolkovo ‘innocity’. However attractive the idea of a governed innovation jump is, the experience of many countries demonstrates that a successful ‘cluster’ cannot be created following a bureaucratic order.

Jurgen Doring started his first company at the age of 23, right after graduating from Munich Technical University as an electrical engineer. rd electronics has since grown into a global leader in car electronics, measurement and testing systems. Venturing out to repeat this success, Jurgen started AEE Renewables where he now spends most his time as CEO. AEE develops and builds hydro power plants as well as solar (photovoltaics) plants.

Lars Håkan Danielsson was born in 1961 in Sweden. After graduating from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in acturial mathematics in 1987, he began his career at the Länsförsäkringsbolagens AB insurance company, and in 1992 was appointed CEO of the reinsurance company Stockholm Re. Since 1994, he has acted as Deputy General Director of Länsförsäkringsbolagens AB; since 1997, General Director of Holmia, Trygg-Hansa, Länsförsäkringar Liv, and Länsförsäkringar AB. Since July 2011, Håkan Danielsson has directed Allianz.
