International conferences

On April 16th and 17th, 2015, EUSP hosted an international conference organized by the Gender Studies Program with support from the EUSP’s Committee on Academic Planning. The motto “the personal is political” is widely known in the social sciences. But by including the personal in the political sphere we often forget that politics permeate social relations and life at a micro level: in caring for vulnerable social groups, in professional activities, and in bodily practices. This two-day conference was devoted to the convergence of the political and personal in the broadest sense.

As a part of the EUSP's 7th annual conference "VDNKh", a mini-conference titled "Civil Society in Russia and the Contemporary World: Social Movements, Institutions, and Moods" took place frpm November 7th-9th. A number of major researchers from Russia, Europe, and  the US presented at the conference.

On 5-6th May 2012, EUSP's Gender Studies Program, with the sponsorship of Novartis International AG, hosted an international seminar, dedicated to the fifteenth anniversary of the program. The seminar covered such topics as the everyday practices of care, globalization and care chains and several others.
