The analytical center “AC-Expert” has published its ranking of Russian universities. This year, The European University has risen in all three profile areas.
The rating is published annually, and in 2024 it took into account the indicators of 2020–2023 based on information from the Scopus international database. The rating is based on both a count of the number of publications and an assessment of their quality through a number of citation indicators. The final score is calculated based on the points scored in four categories: quality of growth, excellence, relevance and scale. The categories take into account both absolute values, which are usually associated with the number of university employees (for example, the volume of publications in first-quartile journals), and size-independent indicators, recalculated by the number of employees (for example, the average number of citations per article).
In the humanities, the European University rose to 13–14th place, which it shares with the Ural Federal University (from 17th place in the 2023 ranking).
In the social sciences, EUSP was ranked 25th (up from 26–27th place in the 2023 ranking).
The greatest rise occurred in economics. Here the European Union ranked 17th (compared to 27th in the 2023 ranking).
A particular feature of the calculations of the analytical center “Expert AC” is the preservation of the methodology over several years. The strengthening of the university's position in such a list serves as an illustration of the growth of the pace of research at EUSP in recent years.
