The Centre for Eurasian Studies was established in June 2024 following a meeting in Shanghai between Vadim Volkov, Rector of the European University at St Petersburg, and Qian Xuhong, President of East China Normal University, and the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
The Centre serves as a platform for Russian-Chinese academic cooperation in the humanities, sociology, economics, and related fields. Its aims are to promote research training, encourage academic exchange among staff and students, and foster an open international academic environment. In partnership with East China Normal University, it develops joint projects and programmes ranging from collaborative research initiatives to academic mobility schemes.
The Centre is also involved in organising a wide range of scholarly activities, including conferences, seminars, and summer schools. It seeks to advance Eurasian Studies, promote international academic dialogue, and strengthen cooperation among researchers.
