A New League of Universities debate club tournament was held on June 5. Over the course of the spring term, students of the universities participating in the league (EUSP, Skoltech, NES and Shaninka) practiced and developed their rhetorical skills and took part in practice debates at weekly workshops. The final event of the season was the New League Tournament, where several EUSP teams were represented.
The following EUSP undergraduates from the faculties of sociology, political science and economics took part in the tournament: Alexandra Metlitskaya, Andrey Valov, Yana Sosnovskaya, Ildar Belyalov, Anastasia Rodina and Anastasia Pankratova.
To begin the tournament, the debaters went through a series of qualifying events (all teams competed with each other; three events were held at EUSP, for example). The teams with the most points in the qualifying events met in the final.
Сначала дебатеры проходили серию отборочных игр (все команды соревновались друг с другом; в Европейском их было три, к примеру). Команды, набравшие наибольшее количество очков в турнирной сетке, встретились в финале.
The winner of the tournament was the European University team of Ildar Belyalov and Andrey Valov. The prize for the best speaker of the tournament was also received by a student of the European University: Anastasia Rodina.
