Open Data City Workshop

April , 18 - 29 at the European University with the support of the STS Center  will be held Open City Data Workshop, dedicated to work with open urban data of the St. Petersburg. The workshop will be held in the format of the data-expedition, based on which participants will write a scientific article.

 

The Director of a work-shop – Irina Radchenko, associate Professor and senior engineer of the ITMO University, the main organizer of the Russian branch of the Open knowledge Foundation (Open Knowledge foundation, Russia). The founder of the Russian ODInode, Comm Link Moscow.

The volume and length of sessions

12 hours face-to-face lectures and workshops (on Tuesdays 18:00-19:30, Thursdays 18:00-19:30 and Saturday 14:00-16:30)

12 hours online.

Learning objectives

  • Skills of work with open data.
  • Learning the basics of processing and analyzing open data.
  • Mastering online visualization of open data.
  • The creation of a research product based on open data.
  • Development (and writing) scientific articles using the open data.

Minimum requirements for students

* the workshop is open to all levels of programming skills, including beginners.

The workshop is open primarily to full-time students of the EUSP, but we will consider applications from graduates, teachers, and researchers EUSP on a rolling basis subject to availability of places. Tuition is not implied.
