On December 23, Guzel’ Yusupova defended her Candidate of Science Dissertation in the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The topic of her dissertation is “Osobyi status titul’noi etnicheskoi grupy v postsovetskoi Rossii (factor islama v Respublike Tatarstan) [The Special Status of the Titular Ethnic Group in post-Soviet Russia (The Factor of Islam in the Republic of Tatarstan)].”
Yusupova’s work was done at the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the European University at St. Petersburg and the Department of the Sociology of Power and Civil Society at the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Advisors: Candidate of Political Science and head of the Department of the Sociology of Power and Civil Society at the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Duka, Candiate of Political Science and fellow at the Center for European Studies-EU Center and associate professor at the European University at St. Petersburg Maria Nozhenko.
