On April 29, 2020, the rating agency RUR published an international ranking of universities Round University Ranking for 2020.

The ranking includes 829 universities from 71 countries. This list of the best universities is led by Harvard University. In second place is the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). British Imperial College in London is in third place and Stanford University in fourth. A group of Russian universities was headed by Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (97th place in the world). In addition to Moscow State University, the top–200 world ranking included three more Russian universities: MEPhI, Tomsk State University, and MIPT.

While universities were ranked, 20 indicators were used to evaluate the activities of universities in four areas: the quality of teaching, the quality of research, the level of internationalization, and the level of financial stability.

In the world ranking, the European University (EUSP) took 730th place, and the 53rd place among 82 Russian universities included in the RUR rating. Experts rated the level of internationalization in EUSP especially highly: according to this indicator, the university occupies 534th place in the world and 35th in Russia. The level of financial stability is the second University's top dimension—it placed EUSP at the 575th position globally and 15th position in the country.
