Official public earnings announcements contain important information for investors. Not only quantitative information used in the earnings releases can give a signal to investors—share prices are usually affected by earnings announcements. The used language in earnings announcements, the information content and structure of messages—all these components carry important information for investors. Vitaly Meursault, Ph.D. Candidate in Financial Economics, Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University, will talk about the language of earnings announcements in the framework of the Saint Petersburg Economic Seminar.
