In 2019–2020 memory of WWII many times became subject of bitter polemics, controversial declarations and symbolic gestures of world leaders. Vladimir Putin even published an article devoted to these issues. Why memory wars around WWII escalated exactly now? Is there anything in the legacy of that war, which can be used today in a positive way in international relation, which cause so much concern?
We have invited prominent diplomats to discuss this issues with Fyodor Lukyanov and Alexey Miller during a special session of our conference «Memory of the Second World War—Glorification, Condemnation, Accusation, Justification, Explanation», organized by EU SPb and Foreign and Defence Policy Council.
Session will be held on November 23, 6 pm – 9 pm. Livestream link.
