Students and Alumni

Since the foundation of the EUSP, over one hundred students have been enrolled in the Department of Anthropology. Half of them have come to the EUSP from outside St. Petersburg, from more than twenty Russian towns, as well as from foreign countries including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, and the USA.

Studying at the Department of Anthropology is not an easy task, but perhaps the intensity of the curriculum helps to form a unique and friendly community of students at the Department.

You can find the list of current students with their theses topics and emails on this page.

About ninety students have completed the post-graduate program at the department. Five alumni are currently conducting Ph.D research at universities in Great Britain, Canada, and the USA.

Twenty-five alumni have defended their candidate's theses. Dissertation research topics cover a wide range both in terms of the cultural phenomena under study and the theoretical frameworks implemented. You can view the topics of the theses defended by our alumni here.

After graduation, our alumni usually work in the social sciences, conducting research, teaching at universities, or editing academic journals. Some, however, go on to succeed in the fields of journalism, marketing, PR, and so on.

Anthropology alumni keep close ties with the department. They often attend seminars as reporters or guests, read lectures, attend departmental parties, and hold regular Alumni Club meetings.
