Russian and Eurasian Studies (IMARES) | Energy Politics in Eurasia (ENERPO) 

The European University at Saint-Petersburg (EUSP) invites all students interested in Russia and the Post-Soviet area (Eurasia) to join one of our international Master's degree programs in International Relations. You may focus on Russian and Eurasian Studies or on Energy Politics in Eurasia.

International MA in Russian and Eurasian Studies Master’s degree program in the politics, economy, society, culture, arts, and history of Russia and neighboring Eurasian countries.

IMARES: one-year intensive program
IMARES Plus: two-year program


International MA in Energy Politics in Eurasia  Master’s degree program in energy politics in Eurasia with a specific focus on energy security, energy economics and markets, energy law, and regional energy studies (EU, Middle East, and East Asia) and current events in the energy sector.

ENERPO: one-year intensive program
ENERPO Plus: two-year program


Russian language courses from beginner to advanced levels are also available as part of each program’s curriculum and can be taken for credit.

Two-year MA programs (IMARES Plus and ENERPO Plus) start once a year in September.

One-year intensive MA programs (IMARES and ENERPO) start twice a year. The spring semester starts at the beginning of March.  The fall semester starts at the beginning of September. You may choose whichever start date serves you better.


Application deadlines:

Admissions continue on a rolling basis. It takes several weeks to obtain a Russian visa, so we ask prospective students to send us their completed application forms no later than:

April 30, 2021 — for the Fall 2021 semester 

October 30, 2021 — for the Spring 2022 semester

  2. Ask two  recommenders to send their letters to us
  3. Hear back from EUSP within 2 weeks
