Professor Oren Yiftachel, Ben-Gurion University, delivered a lecture at the Conference hall of the EUSP

Leading researchers in history of classical republics and republican political theory were participate in the conference, presenting papers on theory of classical republicanism. Also, a number of papers was devoted to the experience of medieval and renaissance republics - Venice  and Florence, as well as Novgorod and Pskov.

The evening began with the annual address by the Rector of the University, Oleg Kharkhordin. Among the honored guests in attendance at the ceremony were representatives of the city administration and diplomatic corps, and also members of the Board of Trustees, friends, and partners of European University.

Professor Laurent Thévenot (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris) presented his new book, took part in the discussion on The Pragmatic Sociology of Engagements and delivered a talk whithin the framework of the Round Table "Comparative Cultural Sociology of Laurent Thévenot and the EUSP Study of the Technological Entrepreneurship in 4 Regions of Russia and Taiwan, Korea and Finland". On Sunday, 22 September 2013, St.Petersburg was welcoming participants of the 87th race Pushkin-SPb also known as "St.Petersburg Marathon".That is one of the oldest sporting events in the city, and this year EUSP decided to join other institutions in promoting its healthy image.The race was a great success for us, as at we got noticed yet at the registration stage thanks to branded t-shirts provided by the EUSP Administration.

  The President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy addressed the students of the European University at St. Petersburg and its distinguished guests, professors and representatives of the media while visiting St. Petersburg to participate in the G20 Summit hosted by Russia this year.

EUSP proudly hosted a delegation of the UN Foundation - one of the largest philanthropic institutions in the world, established by CNN founder Ted Turner. The UN Foundation Board members, including such famous figures as Kofi Annan, Muhammad Yunus and Hisashi Owada, came to EUSP to participate at the round table of leaders titled The Role of Russian Philanthropies in Tackling Global Problems.
