The European University at St. Petersburg (EUSP) is pleased to welcome Ivan Pictet, Senior Partner of Pictet & Cie (1982–2010), as part of its distinguished lecture series. Founded in 1805 when Geneva was under Napoleon’s rule, the Pictet Group today is one of the leading independent asset and wealth managers in Europe with close to 500 BILLION Swiss Franc (CHF) assets under management.

The 19th meeting of the Friends and Trustees of the EUSP Endowment Fund was held at the Moscow City Golf Club on December 14. In addition to the management, trustees and professors of the university, the meeting was attended by representatives of Russian businesses, as well as public and political figures: presidential aide Andrei Fursenko, Governor of the Novgorod Oblast Andrei Nikitin, heads of the Boris Yeltsin Foundation Tatiana Yumasheva and Valentin Yumashev, chairman of the Coordination Council of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Alexander Voloshin.

Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN's flagship international affairs program, “Fareed Zakaria GPS”, Washington Post columnist, contributing editor at The Atlantic and New York Times bestselling author, will be the principal speaker at EUSP Commencement Ceremony on June 24.

On Friday, April 15, Sir Vince Cable, former Liberal Democrat MP and Business Secretary under the Coalition Government (2010-2015) delivered an honorary lecture in the Golden Hall of the European University at St. Petersburg. Sitting next to Russia’s former finance minister (2000 – 2011) and member of EUSP Board of Trustees Alexei Kudrin, Sir Cable chose the title “minister of economics” to describe better his former position in the British Government while speaking to an audience in Russia.

On April 6 at 5:30 PM, in the White Hall of EUSP, Vladimir Drebentsov, Vice-President for External Affairs of BP Russia, will give a talk about the tendencies of oil and gas development during difficult economic times and periods of low oil prices. The talk will be prefaced by an awards ceremony of BP scholarship winners. A question and answer session will follow. The lecture will be in English.

On April 3rd, the European University at St. Petersburg held a meeting with Alexei Mordashov, general director of the JSC “Severstal” and one of the leading figures on the list of Russian billionaires, according to Forbes Magazine. EUSP rector Oleg Kharkhordin presented the guest with a short biography, highlighting that Mordashov is a patriot of Cherepovets, where he still has an apartment.
