Today, June 16, marks the launch of the summer 'Reading District' festival, organized by the School of Arts and Cultural Heritage at the European University at St. Petersburg (EUSP) to celebrate the university's 30th anniversary. The five-week festival will transform Liteiny Prospect and its surroundings into a unified literary space, with the university, museums, bookstores, galleries, and culinary venues becoming stops along a route showcasing hubs of contemporary book culture.
The festival will feature over 15 events, where participants will be able to learn everything about the life of a book: from the author's idea to the reader's response. The festival will open with a writing lab with Max Neapolitansky, which will take place at the Third Place today at 6:00 p.m.
Today you can also join the presentation of Maya Kucherskaya's book "Incident in a Masquerade", and on June 19 (among the soonest) — the public talk "Secret and Public: Diary as a Literary Genre" with the participation of Mikhail Melnichenko and Ekaterina Larionova. Both events will be held in "Subscription Editions".
What else will there be?
Lectures by specialists in the field of socio-cultural studies of literature, reading groups in the courtyard of the Third Place and the Sarai gallery, a series of thematic screenings dedicated to the complex and diverse intersections of literature and the art of cinema in the Out cinema, and also themed cocktails in the famous bars of the area: Terminal, Luch, Zaliv, Brimborium and Tsvetochki.
The events take place within a walkable circle with a radius of 1.5 km from the European University, where science meets culture, and guests will be able not only to immerse themselves in the world of literature, but also to learn about the educational programs of the EUSP.
The schedule of all events and a map of the venues (the program is being updated, stay tuned) are on the festival website.
