The forth session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency was held in Geneva on 31 October – 1 November, 2017. The meeting was attended by over 90 experts from the following United Nations Economic Commission for Europe member States: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
Representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Health Organization (WHO), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency (C2E2), Passive House Institute, European University at St.Petersburg, and King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) also participated.
The delegates discussed items of the agenda as follows:
1) Energy efficiency standards in buildings
2) Best practices in selected economic sectors to improve energy efficiency
3) Regulatory and policy dialogue addressing barriers to improve energy efficiency
4) Role of utilities and energy service companies in improving energy efficiency
5) International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, actions to achieve energy-related Sustainable Development Goals, and cross-cutting activities on transition of the energy sector
Maxim Titov presented his paper “Energy efficiency projects in Russia: implementation and financing” and answered questions from delegates.
The session participants also discussed the Work Plan for the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency for 2018 – 2019.
The next (fifth) session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency is tentatively scheduled to take place on 29 – 30 October 2018 in Kiev or Geneva.
