Scientists are often faced with the need to process and analyze large amounts of data. At the same time, the computing power of the technology used by researchers is not enough to carry out all the necessary operations. This problem is most often solved with additional expenses on server capacity, which can become a significant financial limitation for a number of research projects.
MAST is developing a library for Python allowing carrying out large-scale calculations even with the limited capabilities of the computer's RAM at the expense of time.
The library is named after Samwise Gamgee, the character of JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, who helped Frodo bring the Ring of Power to Orodruin.
