The research project on contemporary Chinese business culture was carried out by the Centre for Eurasian Studies at the European University at St. Petersburg in collaboration with Ilim Group.

логоThe project explored the factors shaping business relations between Russian and Chinese companies and aimed to identify the conditions that support successful economic cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the distinctive features of China’s business culture. The project examined the political, socio-economic, geographical, and cultural dimensions of China’s business environment and considered how these factors influence trade and investment relations with Russia and other countries.

The research drew on case studies of both successful and unsuccessful partnerships between Russian and Chinese companies in order to identify best practices and common challenges. It also included surveys and interviews with representatives of Russian and Chinese businesses, academic experts, and public sector leaders.

The findings highlighted the key aspects of Chinese business culture that should be taken into account when building partnerships. Building on these findings, the Centre for Eurasian Studies developed a short professional course for major Russian companies.

The project has contributed both to academic understanding of contemporary Chinese business culture and to the practical application of this knowledge in strengthening business cooperation between Russia and China.
