About program

The primary objective of the Center for Eurasian Studies’ PhD program in the scientific specialty 5.5.4 "International Relations, Global and Regional Studies" is to train highly qualified personnel for research, teaching, expert-analytical, and educational work in the field of international relations and regional studies. Our goal is to prepare scholars capable of independently conducting research and analytical projects related to geopolitical and integration processes in the Eurasian region.

Program format: Offline.

As part of the program, students will get prepared for candidate exams in the core disciplines of the scientific specialty, study quantitative and qualitative research methods, delve into the fundamentals of research design, and master scientometrics and academic writing. A competitive advantage of the postgraduate program is the opportunity to undertake research internships at partner organizations of the European University in Russia, as well as at East China Normal University in Shanghai (China).

Upon successful evaluation by the European University, the candidate’s dissertation prepared during the program will be recommended for defense in one of the dissertation councils of EUSP partners, depending on the dissertation topic.

The European University’s postgraduate program is traditionally research-focused with a strong educational component. In addition to their work on dissertations, postgraduate students can participate in research and applied projects of the Eurasia Research Center and other academic teams at the university, as well as publish their work in academic-level publications.
