School of Computational Social Sciences

Together with researchers, podcast author and host Maria Svetlichnaya discusses scientific theories, myths, facts, and events that impact the lives of each of us. In the first season, the guests will discuss a variety of topics: from inflation and the economics of health to technoethics and the search for identity in the era of cyberpunk, and what it means to remain human in the age of technology.

In the first episode, Evgeniya Kotelnikov, the School's Director, and Kseniya Tenisheva, the School's Sociology Program Director, discuss how gifts become symbols of attention and care, why the act of giving is so important for maintaining social connections, what might be wrong with Secret Santa, and why it's so important for us to take stock of the year.
