The rating agency Round University Ranking (RUR) has published the results of its annual study—the 2025 World University Subject Rankings.
The European University at St. Petersburg has entered the top twenty Russian universities in the humanities. A total of 78 Russian universities are included in the humanities ranking. Tomsk State University was ranked best among them, followed by Lomonosov Moscow State University in second place, and Bauman Moscow State Technical University in third.
The ranking is based on four main indicators: teaching quality, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability. The most significant contributions to EUSP's high position came from the "teaching quality" indicator (18th place among all Russian universities in the humanities ranking for this indicator) and the "research" indicator (13th place among Russian universities in the humanities ranking for this indicator).
EUSP also ranks in the top thirty Russian universities in the social sciences.
In addition to the humanities and social sciences, RUR traditionally publishes university rankings in four other subject areas: natural sciences, technical sciences, medical sciences, and life sciences.
