European University at St. Petersburg was listed among the top 151-200 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Sociology. Only three other Russian universities were listed in 2018 in addition to EUSP: HSE (51-100), Moscow State University (201-250) and St. Petersburg State University (201-250). The methodology of rating calculation is based on surveys of academic experts and employers, as well as on the evaluation of scientific productivity and the quality of university research.

This is an excellent result! We are in the company of University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Colorado, Boulder; University of Köln; University of California, San Francisco; University of Göttingen and Birkbeck, University of London, where the famous historian Eric Hobsbawm taught. These are universities with very good or excellent departments of sociology and political science, and this is a high achievement for our university, given that we have fewer professors than HSE.
The fact that the European University has been ranked so high in the conditions of a limited number of faculty members speaks of the high efficiency of our professors.
