On February 6, 2018, Moscow hosted the first meeting of the Commission on the Economics of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, formed as part of the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - the World Business Organization (ICC Russia).
Sergey Chestnoy, adviser to the director general of UC RUSAL became chairman of the Commission. Anna Belyaeva, Managing Director for International business development of the Russian Export Center, and Dinara Gershinkova, advisor on climate of the UC RUSAL directorate of international projects, were confirmed as vice-chairmen.
The Commission included representatives of the Russian Export Center, the International Investment Bank, RosEvroBank, Vnesheconombank, White & Case, Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners, the Environmental Investment Center, as well as executive director of the European University at St. Petersburg ENERPO Research Center Maxim Titov, and the Russian Climate Partnership, of which ENERPO RS is a member.
The meeting approved the Regulations on the Commission, according to which it acts as a communication platform for all participants in forming a national green economy, in particular, a market for green financing and innovative production in Russia. Its mission is to create favorable conditions for identifying challenges and barriers to the development of this market and facilitating their quick withdrawal.
The participants also discussed the plan of activities for 2018 and the development of a glossary on green financing. The Working Group on the preparation of the glossary has already been established within the Commission.
