The Potanin Charitable Foundation has presented the results of the annual ranking of universities participating in the 2024/2025 Vladimir Potanin Scholarship Program. The ranking was topped by the National Research University Higher School of Economics, with St. Petersburg State University in second place. Lomonosov Moscow State University rounds out the top three.
A total of 75 Russian universities are included in the ranking.
The ranking is methodology based. This year, minor changes were made to it—a group of indicators called "Additional Opportunities" was added.
The full list of indicators evaluated in the 2025 ranking is as follows:
- Activity level of university students' participation in the scholarship competition
- Proportion of participants in the scholarship competition who became winners
- University's average score for the distance round of the scholarship competition
- University's average score for the in-person round of the scholarship competition
- Количество преподавателей, победивших в грантовом конкурсе
- Number of faculty members who won grants in the competition
- Average score of faculty members who participated in the grant competition
- Number of faculty members who won the "Professional Development" competition
- Average score of faculty members who participated in the "Professional Development" competition
- Number of university representatives who won at the Foundation School
- Average score of university representatives who participated in the Foundation School
- Additional Opportunities (3 indicators)
- Ratio of applications to the scholarship competition rejected for plagiarism to the number of student participants
- Ratio of applications to the grant competition rejected for plagiarism to the number of faculty participants
