This talk, which focuses on the Tver’ diocese, will cover the evolution of a clerical institution from its humble origins in the Great Reform era of the 1860s to its prominent role in humanitarian relief efforts and political organization within the религиозная среда. In conclusion, it addresses the use of this institution by revolutionary clergymen to challenge Church authority and overthrow the Orthodox hierarchy in 1917.
