This book provides a theoretically and empirically grounded examination of the struggle for maternity care in contemporary Russia, framed by changes to the healthcare system and the roles of its participants after socialism. The chapters consider multiple perspectives and interactions between women and professionals and the structural and institutional pressures they face when striving for better conditions and treatment.

This book considers the process of legal modernization in Russia from the development of the mechanism of complaints addressed to the authorities from the pre-revolutionary period to today. It analyzes wide-ranging data and sources, collected over 17 years, such as legislation, in-depth interviews, archival materials, original texts, and examples of different methods of complaints in Soviet and contemporary Russia.

Автор изучает, как в позднесоветских социологических текстах конструировался социально-гражданский статус людей старшего возраста и какие гендерные различия устанавливались в этом конструировании. Для вторичного анализа отобраны статьи и монографии, написанные на основании исследовательских проектов, осуществленных в 1970-х — начале 1980-х годов несколькими советскими социологическими коллективами. Автор показывает, что советские социологи, создавая знание о старшем поколении, маневрировали между нормативностью идеологии и позитивистским знанием.

The goal of this article is to analyze the challenges faced by social researchers during the first months of the pandemic of 2020 when work-life issues were problematized and academic routine changed. The article is based on a dataset of diaries in which researchers with an academic background in social sciences and humanities were fixing their everyday life and reflecting on its changes.
