The experience that the European University offered to me over the course of the Summer School 2019 was an opportunity otherwise unmatched. From its White Nights in the city to cultural experiences embracing the beautiful art and daily life of Saint Petersburg, I was able to get a glimpse of nearly everything Saint Petersburg has to offer, even if only for a month.
Academic excursions explored Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Oreshek Fortress, and several neighborhoods around the city itself with the most remarkable faculty in interdisciplinary fields. Through the program I learned of the history of Saint Petersburg since its founding in 1703, Soviet culture, and diaspora culture as a whole, by engaging with all of these topics directly.
Without the enriching guidance from the faculty and staff of the European University, the smoothness and depth of the program would have been impossible, so I am now and forever grateful for the experience they masterfully provided me.
